It's definitely a pastiche of a lot of fantasy before it- remnants of LotR, some Zelda, little bit of Narnia at the beginning, a hero with a destiny on a quest to save the world. Review 2: So, this series will probably be pretty standard fantasy fare. The graphics in this novel are amazing! I love he somewhat realistic detail. There has to be a little struggle so the character's can succeed (or this scenario is repeated a number of times that we always think the character/s has to struggle). In the beginning of the book, I felt like the novel 's story line was a little stereotypical but it was compatible with the story line.
